"The burden of non communicable diseases has almost reached at a point where countries ill afford to ignore the problem anymore with multiplying factors that expose people to serious health problems like Cancer. While the continent has locked horns with communicable diseases, at the heart of the public health problem lurk other insidious non communicable diseases. And yet, Cancer, like other non communicable diseases, has received low priority for health care services in the continent. The reason behind this lack of attention resides in the overwhelming burden of communicable diseases. In addition, lack of adequate health infrastructure, health professionals and disparity among countries' commitment make the fight against Cancer an up hill battle. The facilities for providing treatment for Cancer cases in most of Africa are minimal. On the contrary Cancer is not a rare disease in Africa."
